Hello and welcome to The Recreational Appalachian!
I am a Reference Librarian/Instructor at my local community college. Besides my obvious interest in academic librarianship, I believe libraries are more vital to communities than ever before by providing services for early literacy, job searching, tax services, and so much more as well as a common center around which the community may gather.
Besides libraries and my studies, I am interested in writing Young Adult (YA) fiction. I have written and self-published one novella, Anna’s Wonderland, which I wrote when I was 16. I have completed two novel first drafts, one a retelling of Cinderella in which the title character is in a garage band called The Cinders, and the other a fantasy novel in which a crazed king holds a lottery to find his wife and she must survive in a blood soaked, competitive, and highly paranoid court. I am currently working on my third novel, a high school senior discovers a lamp and releases a genie who, she discovers, is being held captive by a centuries old curse.
I live with my husband and our beautiful daughter in the beautiful foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. I enjoy many outdoor activities as a result such as hiking, running, biking, walking, tennis, and visiting the wild and retired horses who live on a nearby strip job.
